Career Track Discovery Program Admission Prerequisites

You can get started in the Career Track Discovery Program with zero experience. Review the requirements below, then find a training center near you, and schedule online.

Admission Requirements

Start with Zero Experience

  • US Citizenship (or Permanent Resident)
  • 18 years of age or older
  • One of the following is preferred:
    • A High School GPA of 3.0 (High School Seniors and Recent Graduates Only), or
    • Two Years of College Experience, or
    • Two Years of Work Experience, or
    • Two Years of Military Service With an Honorable Discharge
  • FAA First Class Medical Certificate with no limitations (except for corrective lenses)
Height and Weight Limitations

Students taller than 6'3" are assessed for comfort inside the aircraft and the ability to manipulate the controls fully. Pilots shorter than 5'4" must purchase and use a seat cushion for proper visibility while still being able to manipulate the controls fully. Due to aircraft operational limitations, students and instructors weighing more than 250 lbs are not eligible for training in ATP aircraft.

How to Get Your FAA First Class Medical Certificate

Airline pilots must hold an FAA First Class Medical Certificate with no limitations (except corrective lenses). To obtain your certificate through an Aeromedical Examiner (AME):

  1. Complete the initial application at FAA MedXpress. (Important: Use your full legal name as it appears on your passport or birth certificate.)
  2. Locate an AME near you and schedule a First Class Medical exam.
