As an ATP student, you’ll attend Elevate for private pilot, instrument, commercial, and flight instructor ground school. A total of eight weeks of Elevate ground school sets the foundation for your aeronautical knowledge and complements your flight lessons and one-on-one briefings with your instructor.

During the private pilot stage, you will participate in 35 hours of the private pilot ground school instruction.

In the instrument stage, you’ll attend 35 hours of instrument ground school, covering topics such as weather theory and instrument flight rules (IFR), you’ll gain a thorough understanding of instrument flight while learning from your instructor in the aircraft and simulator.

During the commercial pilot stage, you’ll attend 31 hours of commercial ground school, building on your private pilot and instrument knowledge with advanced aeronautical topics required for your commercial pilot certificate.

Hours During Commercial Pilot Stage
The first portion of the flight instructor stage is delivered virtually, where you’ll attend ATP Elevate full time. During this comprehensive two week ground school program, you’ll learn the fundamentals of instruction from ATP’s nationally awarded instructors.
