Flight Training in College

Earn Your Undergraduate Degree& Become a Professional Pilot — Simultaneously

For university students, ATP Flight School offers a Flex Track option for the Airline Career Pilot Program. Train in the same proven airline-oriented program, but with the scheduling flexibility needed to accommodate your college courses.

As a college student, the Flex Track Airline Career Pilot Program allows you to:

  • Save time and costs by completing your flight training and degree simultaneously;
  • Diversify your education and earn a bachelor's degree in a non-aviation field (giving you a back-up should you lose your medical certificate or want to expand your opportunities in the aviation industry);
  • Begin flying as a flight instructor sooner — gaining a greater amount of flight time while in college and becoming more competitive for airline hiring;
  • Complete your pilot training in half the time of traditional aviation degree programs, and start earning an income as a pilot while finishing your degree.

How Flex Track for College Students Works

ATP offers the Flex Track Airline Career Pilot Program, making it possible to work towards an undergraduate degree and pilot career simultaneously.

  1. Step 1

    Schedule Your College Classes

    ATP will schedule your flight training time around your college classes, so start by scheduling your college classes.

  2. Step 2

    Notify ATP of Your Availability

    Provide seven days advance notice for ATP to schedule your flight training. A minimum of only 15 flight or simulator hours is required every 30 days, giving you time to be successful in both your academic and aviation studies.

  3. Step 3

    Work Towards Your Degree and Pilot Career Simultaneously

    Any time out of class can be devoted to flying, allowing you to earn your pilot certification faster than a traditional aviation degree program.

    Your flight training days will include guided independent study, group study, and/or flight lessons with related briefings. All of these training methods work together to prepare you for a successful airline career in the most efficient time frame.
